Tanzania Travelers becomes Tru Safari: A new name for our shared journey
A new name, the same passion: After four years as Tanzania Travelers GmbH, we are heading into the future as Tru Safari GmbH. Our new name represents our growing vision, because we no longer offer trips only to Tanzania and Kenya, but now also to Uganda. And this is just the beginning. Later this year, we want to expand our offering to Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.
Our story began in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic, when we travelled to Tanzania for the first time. A journey that changed everything. Back then, we met Gilliard, who spontaneously organized a trip for us to Tarangire National Park after an unexpected breakdown. From this encounter, not only a deep friendship was born, but also the idea of offering individual safari trips ourselves: personal, authentic and close to the people on site. This is how Tanzania Travelers was born.
Since then, we have grown, travelled to new countries and found local partners who share our passion. Our principle remains the same: Every country we offer, we travel to ourselves to ensure that we can advise our customers honestly and competently. In the past four years, we have learned a great deal and have become more professional. We are a member of Switzerland’s largest travel association, the Swiss Travel Association of Retailers (STAR), secure our clients’ funds in accordance with the Swiss Package Travel Act by joining the Swiss Travel Security guarantee fund and are now also subject to a limited audit. We do all this to ensure the highest level of security and quality for your trip.
With Tru Safari, we want to offer safaris across Africa – from well-known destinations like Tanzania, South Africa or Botswana to less-traveled countries like Malawi, Angola or Gabon. Our goal: to become one of the leading safari tour operators for the Swiss market.

Why the renaming?
When we founded Tanzania Travelers, our focus was exclusively on safaris in Tanzania. But it soon became clear that our customers often wanted to combine trips to other African countries as well. First Kenya, now Uganda and soon Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. Our name therefore no longer matched what we now offer and plan for the future.
With Tru Safari, we want to express our vision: to create authentic and personal safari experiences in various African countries. “Tru” stands for “True”: for real encounters, honest advice and the promise that we personally travel and check every country we offer. This way, we can show you not only beautiful places, but also bring you closer to the people on site with whom we often share close friendships.
The renaming is a big step for us, reflecting our development over the past few years. Our hearts have long belonged to all of Africa and we look forward to continuing to share our enthusiasm with you.
What is changing and what remains the same?
Perhaps you are wondering what will change for you with our renaming. The most important news first: Our passion for unique safari experiences, our personal service and our team remain exactly the same. We are still here for you with dedication and continue to design your trip as individually as before.
What remains the same:
- Our dedicated team remains your point of contact.
- You can continue to rely on our carefully vetted local partners.
- Our principle of personally traveling to every country before we include it in our program.
- Our high standards of quality and personal care.
What changes:
- Our company is now called Tru Safari GmbH.
- Our email addresses and domains are being changed to “trusafari.ch,” but all previous addresses will still work and will be automatically forwarded.
- Our offering is growing: In addition to Tanzania and Kenya, Uganda is now included.
All existing bookings remain unchanged, of course. For you, the renaming above all means one thing: even more opportunities to discover Africa in an authentic way – with us at your side.
Our vision for the future
With Tru Safari, we want to carry our passion for Africa even further. In the future, we want to enable travelers to discover the continent in all its facets – from well-known highlights to lesser-traveled regions that are true hidden gems.
Our vision is to become one of the leading providers of individual safaris in the Swiss market. For this, we want to continuously expand our portfolio. We are also planning to include Botswana, Namibia and South Africa in our program. Countries like Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Madagascar or even Gambia and Angola are also on our list. Of course, always in line with our principle of personally traveling to each country and carefully selecting local partners.
At the same time, we want to leverage new digital possibilities to make planning your dream trip even easier and more inspiring. And above all, we want to remain what we stand for: a personal, honest partner who makes unforgettable safari experiences possible and not only shows you Africa, but brings it closer to you.
Moreover, it is important to us to give something back. That is why we specifically support selected social projects in Africa that are close to our hearts. Through this, we want to contribute to improving the lives of people on the ground and to express our connection to the continent beyond our trips.
